Theory Test & Initial Driver CPC (DCPC):

It is now a requirement to pass a Theory Test for any Category C vehicles.

From 10th September 2009 all truck drivers (Categories C1, C1+E, C, C+E) will have to gain this qualification

To become a driver and successfully gain the DRIVER CPC (DCPC) a new driver must pass the following 4 modules:

1. Theory and Hazard Awareness test.  Same format as was, but with more questions and clips.

2. DCPC - Case study questions and answers.  The candidate will be shown case studies and then asked questions about them.

3. Driving Test.  Same format as previously but 10 minutes longer.

4. DCPC – ‘Show me tell me’ questions.  The candidate will be asked questions about certain topics such as how to correctly restrain a load using various load restraints and asked to demonstrate their knowledge e.g. using a ratchet strap.

Driver Training

We are able to offer 3, 5 & 7-day courses, plus extra tuition days should you need them.  We will pre-arrange a test for the last day of the course (normally a Friday, subject to DSA Examiner availability).

Driver Training Fees

Our fees are very competitive, please e-mail or call for details (Tel: 01952 406581).

Category C (Rigid) training:  On successfully completing the training and passing the category C driving test, the Driving Examiner will retain your Drivers Licence and inform DVLA Swansea of your test pass result.

DVLA will the automatically issue a new licence to your address (as shown on your licence).  It will automatically show Category C+E ‘Provisional’ entitlement.  Once this arrives with you, you are ready (if you wish) to progress to the next stage, which is Category C+E (Artic).

Their is no waiting period between licences, you just simply need to receive the licence back from DVLA with ‘Provisional’ C+E added.

Category C+E (Artic) training:

Please note that we provide a modern Volvo tractor unit and full size trailer for the training.  This ensures that you have learned to drive, reverse & couple / un-couple on a vehicle you are most likely to drive after the test.

Note:    Some companies provide Category C+E training but do the training in a ‘Drawbar outfit’ – whilst this will provide you with a full C+E licence, it will not give you the knowledge to drive or reverse articulated vehicles.

Should you need any further information whatsoever, please do not hesitate in contacting us either by telephone or e-mail.  We are always pleased to be of help.
